Cut Stone Mill - Lampasas

Architectural cut stone is prepared and fabricated at the Lampasas facility. Upon arrival from the quarry, it is edged on a 72 inch saw and conveyor/block turn system which knocks off rough edges to create smooth borders.  After the block is edged, it’s moved on a conveyor or overhead crane for slabbing where it’s prepared for production and specifications on the shop ticket.

Slabbing is performed using two narrow belt saws operating with diamond belts guided by bars to slab the block. The belt saws are computer controlled to allow any slab thickness to be cut along the 50 foot gantry track.  Multiple blocks are loaded at a time to maintain efficiency; each block ranges from five to 10 feet in length, up to 6 feet in height, and weighing up to 10 tons.
