Frisco Square in Frisco, TX, one of the largest mixed-use developments in the country, features a variety of buildings clad in native limestone.

“The project is part of a 140-acre master plan, of which the city owns roughly 20 acres,” said architect Michael C. Swartz from the firm David M. Schwarz/Architectural Services Inc. of Washington, DC. “The rest of the land is owned by a private entity that was interested in selling it. Some of the city’s representatives saw it and like the quality and feel of the mixed-use project, and they asked us to come on board to help design something that resembled Parker Square, which is also in Texas.”

Approximately 200,000 square feet of natural stone was utilized in the design of the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, TX, to give it a local flair.

"In April 2004, the world-class Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center opened to the public, offering 2.3 million square feet of luxurious space, including an exquisite lobby adorned with limestone and marble. The resort, which overlooks beautiful Lake Grapevine in Grapevine, TX, features 1,511 guest rooms, including 141 suites, five restaurants, retail shops and 400,000 square feet of meeting space. Employing an abundant amount of natural stone throughout the establishment helped to create the elegant and inviting design, while also maintaining the local Texan flavor that was intended."
