History
Family owned and operated, Mezger Enterprises has become the premier quarrier and full service supplier of limestone in the Southwest. Bill Mezger, founder and CEO, founded Mezger Enterprises in 1978 with a homemade, guillotine style rock chopping machine that split native ledge limestone into approximately 18 inch housing veneer. As product demand and orders grew, the company expanded its capabilities by upgrading to a Hydra stone split with an automated conveyor loading system. The Hydra split allowed for more, and faster production, as well as a better product as the machine was able to now cut limestone up to 4 feet in length.
By 1983, Mezger branched into the custom cut stone market; he added a 10 foot diamond Savage saw, along with 6 foot and 3 foot rip and joint Tysaman saws that sawed quarry block into slabs to process it into veneer, window surrounds and architectural cut stone. As expansion continued, two stone planers were added to develop the molds for custom cut stone projects along with a column and baluster lathe machine. In the early 1990’s Auto CAD was introduced to replace board drawn drafting and is still utilized to draft designs, patterns, and blueprints and Mezger purchased its first quarry totaling 140 acres. Today, the quarries total more than 1,000 acres.
In 1994, Mezger Enterprise experienced another expansion as demand for custom cut limestone soared. The addition of the narrow belt saw and in-line conveyors allowed the company to be more automated and efficient. During this time more planers, diamond saws, and rip and joint lines were also added to increase productivity. In 2002 Mezger Enterprise incorporated Computer Numerically Control (CNC) Routers, which replaced hand cut molds on radial window headers, returns on band courses, and water tables.
Mezger Enterprise began with an 8,000 square foot facility in Lampasas, TX; with the addition of state-of-the-art equipment, personnel and an ever increasing number of projects the Lampasas location has grown into a 40,000 square foot facility today. In 1997, Mezger Enterprise opened its second facility with 3,600 square feet in Lueders, TX to service large scale commercial and residential projects. Today the Lueders facility has grown to over 30,000 square feet.
Since its founding in 1978, Mezger Enterprise has successfully completed more than 8,000 residential, commercial, municipal and institutional projects worldwide.
